Precedent Developments — Accessibility Statement
Effective date: August 16, 2025
Last reviewed: August 16, 2025
Precedent Developments Inc. (“Precedent,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We design, build, and maintain our websites and online experiences so that the largest possible audience—including people who use assistive technologies—can access information and services with ease and dignity.
Our Accessibility Standards
We aim to conform to W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA across our public web properties. We also work to respect the spirit and requirements of applicable laws and regulations, including (as relevant) the Accessible Canada Act (ACA), AODA (Ontario), Alberta Human Rights Act, U.S. ADA Title III, and analogous state laws.
What We’re Doing
To support accessibility, we integrate the following measures into our design and development lifecycle:
-
Inclusive design & QA: accessible color palettes and contrast ratios (target ≥ 4.5:1 for body text), responsive layouts, scalable type, and touch targets sized for mobile.
-
Semantics & structure: meaningful page titles, logical heading hierarchy, ARIA landmarks, lists, and tables with headers.
-
Keyboard operability: all interactive elements are reachable and usable with a keyboard; clear focus indicators and predictable focus order.
-
Forms & validation: programmatically associated labels, instructions, error messaging, and success confirmations that are conveyed to screen readers.
-
Media accessibility: captions for prerecorded video, transcripts for audio, and reduced-motion options where feasible.
-
Images & icons: informative alt text for non-decorative imagery; decorative images marked appropriately to be ignored by screen readers.
-
Modals, menus, and disclosures: managed focus, role attributes, and ESC/close behavior that works for keyboard and assistive tech users.
-
Skip links & navigation: “Skip to main content” and consistent navigation patterns across pages.
-
Language & readability: clear, concise copy; declared page language; avoidance of images-of-text except for logos.
How We Test
We evaluate accessibility using both automated and human-centered methods:
-
Automated scans for common issues (e.g., missing labels, color contrast, ARIA misuse).
-
Manual keyboard-only testing and screen reader checks (e.g., NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack).
-
Regression testing for new components and significant content changes.
-
Periodic external reviews or audits, as appropriate.
Assistive Technology & Browser Compatibility
Our goal is to support a broad range of modern environments. We aim for compatibility with:
-
The two most recent versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge on desktop.
-
Current versions of iOS (Safari) and Android (Chrome) on mobile.
-
Popular screen readers on supported operating systems.
Some legacy browsers or very old devices may not render all features perfectly; we strive to maintain graceful degradation where possible.
Third-Party Content & Services
Our websites may include integrations or content from third parties (e.g., map embeds, video players, booking forms, social media widgets). While we seek accessible vendors and configure integrations with accessibility in mind, we do not control third-party platforms. If you encounter a barrier within an embedded tool, please let us know so we can assist and raise the issue with the provider.
PDFs, Downloads, and Alternative Formats
Where we publish documents (e.g., proposals, brochures, reports), we aim to provide tagged, screen-reader-friendly PDFs or accessible web equivalents. If you need a document in an alternative format (e.g., large print, HTML, braille-ready file), contact us and we’ll provide a suitable version as soon as reasonably possible.
Feedback, Requests & Contact
Your experience matters. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, need an accommodation, or have suggestions to improve accessibility, please contact us:
-
Email: accessibility@[your-domain].com
-
Phone: +1 (XXX) XXX-XXXX
-
Mail: Accessibility, Precedent Developments Inc., Calgary, Alberta, Canada
When you write, please describe the page or feature, the problem you experienced, and your technology setup (browser, device, assistive tech). We will review and respond as promptly as we can.
Ongoing Improvement & Governance
Accessibility is a continuous practice. We maintain internal guidelines aligned to WCAG, train our teams, and include accessibility checks in design reviews and code releases. We prioritize fixes that remove barriers affecting task completion (e.g., contact/investment forms, navigation, and critical content) and track remediation in our issue management process.
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, you may encounter areas that need refinement—for example, older PDFs that lack full tagging, occasional missing transcript links, or rare instances of insufficient contrast in legacy components. We are actively addressing these issues as part of our regular updates. Please report any problems you find so we can resolve them quickly.
Policy Updates
We may update this statement to reflect improvements, audits, or changes to standards and laws. The “Effective date” and “Last reviewed” dates above indicate the most recent update.
Precedent Developments is committed to equitable access. Thank you for helping us build a better, more inclusive digital experience for everyone.
